Keep the fasts of the Orthodox Church.

Fasting in the Orthodox tradition is a gift, not a burden. OneTrueFaith shows you what today's fast looks like — at a glance, with no guilt and no fuss — across all four canonical fasting periods and the Wednesday and Friday fasts.

Feasts & exceptions

Fish-allowed days, fast-free weeks, and the bright joys of Pascha.

The four canonical fasting periods

Great Lent. The forty days before Holy Week, our annual journey toward Pascha — the most ancient and central fast of the Church year.

Apostles' Fast. Beginning the Monday after All Saints' Sunday and ending on the feast of Sts Peter and Paul (June 29).

Dormition Fast. Two weeks (August 1–14) preparing for the great feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos on August 15.

Nativity Fast. Forty days (November 15 – December 24) preparing the heart for the birth of Christ.

Wednesdays and Fridays. The weekly remembrance of Christ's betrayal and crucifixion, kept throughout the year apart from fast-free weeks.

A note from us

OneTrueFaith is a tool, not a spiritual father. The Church always speaks of fasting in the context of obedience, almsgiving, prayer, and confession. Please discuss your personal rule of fasting with your priest.
